Language Context And Text-the Social Semiotics Forum

The Language Context and Text the Social Semiotics Forum is an international peer-reviewed journal that focuses on the use, critique, and development of social semiotics initially proposed by British linguist M.a.K. Halliday. It is dedicated to new theoretical and empirical work on any language in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). In addition, people are very interested in the study of other patterns that use social semiotic methods and are directly related to SFL. The social semiotic study of the modal relationships between language and other meaning systems is particularly interesting, as is the interdisciplinary research in which language use plays a key role.

The magazine encourages the submission and critique of new theoretical proposals through careful academic analysis, testing of proposal meanings, and the widespread introduction of alternative viewpoints within the SFL framework. The magazine publishes research in a wide range of fields and interests, such as various levels of language and context, academic and professional writing, business communication, computational modeling, healthcare communication, children's language development, language and literacy learning, literary research, second and other language learning, the influence of social class on language use in institutional environments, ideological research, translation and interpretation, and workplace relations.
